Are you from the US or Canada?

I think coming from a cold, car centric society to a warmer, more walkable community with locally produced foods being more of a standard and more sunshine can make it easier for one to lose weight, even without being a super healthy eater.

For example, many Americans who vacation in Europe end up losing weight despite eating a bunch of bread, pizza, pasta, gelato, and other sweet treats. All foods that are deemed “unhealthy”

I imagine it’s because those foods are made from scratch and even if they weren’t, those people most likely spent the whole day walking outside which is something they didn’t do in the US, where most people spend their time sitting in a car to get to their destination and then continue to sit some more. That increased activity level in Europe, probably made them sleep like a baby at night which is another weight loss “hack.”

I live in Taiwan and I sometimes eat like a sumo wrestler yet still stay slim. Probably because I don’t much processed food. Most sweets and baked goods I eat I make myself. On an average day, I’m recording 5-7km of walking and that’s not including scheduled exercise or when my phone is not on me.
