Exactly! Within the last century, the US started to transform into a microwave society. In order to successfully reverse it, Americans need to be convinced to cook from scratch first. Cooking from scratch takes time, so that means life shouldn’t be centered around the work. A mandatory siesta like Spain can definitely open the doors for people to embrace more hobbies or get that much needed relaxation from their stressful jobs.

Also accessibility and considering food deserts. You won’t find a whole lot of produce and meat from local farmers, butchers and fishermen for sale in metropolitan areas, especially not in the poorer communities.

I’ve never been to Spain, but if the Spanish metro areas are similar to other European countries, then people probably get a lot of passive exercising by walking to train/bus stations or cycling to their destinations daily, which is just enough exercise to reduce ones stress levels. In the US, that’s only true in the Northeast due to the population density. New York City is probably the only major city where it’s 100% better off to not have a car (excluding Staten Island).

The country overall would need a major facelift.
