I also an American of Caribbean heritage (Jamaica), who also obtained dual citizenship. I once had an interest in living in Jamaica, but now over time I have changed my mind for various reasons.

But to go back to the highlighted point, I call it the "foreigner cheat code" Black foreigners in the US often do beter than many of the locals just like how Black Americans tend to do better than the black locals when they go to the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa and you also say pretty it's true for Europe, Asia, and Oceania.

When you move to a new country you have a cleaner slate than the locals, so upward mobility may be easier than a local who comes from a long family history of being disadvantaged due the system constantly wronging them, especially if you have a skill that is in demand.

I live in Taiwan, and because of my skill and national origin being in demand, I can earn more @than locals doing the same job (teaching).

People often move to a new country with a different attitude because they hey aren't aware of the systems in place and they don't really care. That's partly why when westerners move to SE Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa talking about how they're living the dream, it's often through rose colored glasses because they're so focused on how their USD, euro, pound, etc. makes it possible for them to live a very luxurious lifestyle that they would never be able to do at home.

This is how some foreigners in the US feel - access to things they couldn't do at home.
