I live in Taiwan. Squat toilets definitely grew on me since moving. Except for maybe the countryside, all Taiwanese homes have sitting toilets. I personally just use a bucket to elevate my feet.

Outside of ignorance, to dissect major reasons why squat toilets will never be “in” in America means you have to address the elephant in the room: waistlines and super sedentary lifestyles. Children can get a hang of it because they’re young and limber but the average American adult lacks mobility from sitting too much and they’re a lot heavier than the average person in Asia major. If squat toilets were the norm in public bathrooms, you’ll have a lot of people falling in the toilet or pissing (or shitting) on themselves because they can’t squat low enough.

I think promoting the stool for one’s home bathroom would be a better alternative.
