I relate to this. When I joined Medium 5 years ago, I used to share my articles on Facebook, so my friends and family can read and support. After a few years, I started to diversify what I write about, which meant writing about things people may strongly disagree with and/or things that don’t interest them. Nowadays, I only share my articles with family and friends if I think it’s something that would interest them, otherwise they can simply sign up on Medium and follow me if they want to know when I post new stories.
When going the entrepreneurial one must learn that there’s a high possibility that your family and friends aren’t your target market, so one shouldn’t be upset if they don’t support you like your biggest customers; or in the case of Medium and other blogging platforms, your biggest fans.
