I see where he’s coming from. My family comes from a country that’s being taken over by foreigners as well, but you’re right it’s not about color per se. It’s really about passport privilege. I have a white friends from countries with a worse passport than me and they’re trying to get their money and documents together in order to get a visa for a country with strict requirements like the US or UK. And I know non-white people from wealthier nations who view themselves as “expats” or “digital nomads” when they move to another country.
I’m brown, or what most people would say “black” with a US passport and I honestly never faced many difficulties when traveling except for weird encounters with locals who think all Americans are white. I found that being a non-white person from a predominantly white country is an interesting dynamic when traveling. But nonetheless, he’s really talking about the unfairness of one’s treatment based on the passport they hold.
