It is very much possible to survive and thrive without eating meat.
Honestly, interesting how lately there’s been a huge concern for vegans/vegetarians in western countries considering that nearly a third of Indians are vegetarians, Buddhists of certain denominations are vegan/vegetarian, Rastas are vegetarian/vegan. Also, the Bible mentions the Daniel Fast, which is basically eating plant-based vegan. People have been eating this way long before it became trendy by PETA, western media, and health documentaries like What The Health.
YouTube is a good resource for meal ideas, but bypass all of the rants that consist of psudeoscience fluff and people being evangelical about their vegan camp (e.g. raw veganism, high carb low fat, 80/10/10, etc.) claiming that their way is the only way for optimal health and weight loss. It may work for some people, but definitely not ideal or sustainable for everyone. Some popular vegan YouTubers seem to have an eating disorder/disordered eating behavior in disguise and shouldn’t be taken seriously.
Personally, I think the ideal diet depends on genetics, your activity level, and where your ancestors are from. For example, people of East-Asian and sub-Saharan African descent tend to struggle with digesting dairy more than people of European descent.
I think nowadays supplementing is necessary for everyone because modern agricultural practices have compromised our food. There are even omnivores that suffer from deficiencies like B-12 and iron.
