Social media.

Facebook. Twitter. Instagram. Snap Chat. LinkedIn. Tumblr. Pinterest. Google+. YouTube. Medium. And the list goes on. There are many ways to connect with people from all over the world.

Each platform has it’s own way to communicate a message. These platforms can be a powerful tool and/or it can be the biggest distraction.

Lately, I’ve noticed more and more posts of people making an announce on why they’re decided to quit social media [for the most part]. Some of the reasons may include the following:

  • It’s too distracting.
  • It’s too addicting.
  • It’s killing their self-esteem.
  • They want to live more in the moment instead of on their phone.
  • They’re tired of reading whiny posts and unproductive debates.
  • They tired of looking at fake portrayals of other people’s lives (e.g. the social media influencers).
  • They see no need to tell the cyber world what they’re doing with their lives.

It’s true social media can be all of those things, and all of those feelings are valid. I share some of the same sentiments and will take breaks from aimlessly scrolling through my social media feeds…
