Yup, it’s true. To be in good health and shape requires time and money. Society prioritized cheap food with little to no nutrition while musing nutritionally dense food a premium. For someone who’s tight on money, they’re going to automatically choose the cheap option because it’s more filling and can feed multiple mouths. Telling people to eat better is only a fraction of it. Sellers need to make those healthy foods more accessible and affordable.

Since many people spend much of their day sitting, it made me wonder: what if companies made recess mandatory like many primary and junior high schools? Thirty to sixty minutes of simply playing as if we were children again: shooting a basketball, playing dodgeball, kicking the ball back and forth or having a catch, jump rope games, or simply walking around and catching some sun rays. The employees will feel energized. Since maybe people work daytime hours, going outside in the afternoon allows them to get some vitamin D, from sun which can improve one’s immune system and better their mood (especially those prone to Seasonal Affective Disorder). Maybe just maybe people wouldn’t dread work so much and they can perform better because they had a proper brain break and got to shake out their legs from sitting all day.

An optimistic me thought people in positions of power (like politicians and CEOs) would begin to prioritize all forms of healthy habits because of this pandemic, but it seems like corporations are just in a rush to open ASAP and return to what they were doing pre-pandemic without implementing new healthy changes outside of wearing masks and buying more cleaning supplies, which is sad.
